Hot Water Tanks

The usage of hot water tanks and water heating in general accounts for about 18% of your home’s energy use. Reducing your hot water use, employing energy-saving strategies, and choosing an energy efficient water heater for your home or pool can help you reduce your monthly water heating bills.

There are several types of tanks that can be used to heat your domestic hot water. The main things to consider when choosing a water heater are:

  • Number of people in the home
  • Number of showers in the home
  • Is there a natural gas connection?
  • Do I want to save space?
  • Can it be vented through the wall?

In general, we never recommend an electric water heater as it has the highest operating cost of all tanks. It is better to go with a power vented water heater that exhausts directly outside and operates more efficiently. However, there is no better choice than a tankless water heater.
